Compassion is the mainstay of all good therapy.

Through compassionate and genuine care, tremendous healing can occur in therapy. The great paradox of change is that in order to change, you first need to accept yourself exactly as you are, without needing to change anything. The process of change, and the process of self-love and acceptance, can happen simultaneously in therapy.

Many of us have learnt to be extremely cruel to ourselves, we would not speak to others the way we speak to ourselves. Self-love is the work of a lifetime and needs continuous attention.

By feeling truly accepted and cared for by me, you will inevitably develop these qualities within yourself, and learn to love yourself deeply.

“Empathy has no script. There is no right way or wrong way to do it. It’s simply listening, holding space, withholding judgement, emotionally connecting, and communicating that incredibly healing message of ‘You’re not alone.’ ”
